IMSA is an enrichment program for students in 4-8 grades. At Trimpe, this is an embedded program where students meet a minimum of three hours per week. It provides students with hands-on, inquiry based math and science activities that are problem-centered and engaging. In order to teach this program, teachers must participate in mandatory, yearly professional development programs.
Medieval! STEM Through the Middle Ages is an integrative curriculum. Economics and currency are explored through trade. Agriculture and travel implore the use of mathematics. Technology and application are exercised in alchemy, printing, and food-study units. The progress of STEM concepts are woven through multiple units. By the end of their journey, students will gain an appreciation for the history behind real-world concepts, as well as recognize an understand for knowledge is obtained from necessity.
